Apply Now: Rajya Sabha Research & Study Scheme Now Open For Students

The Rajya Sabha announced the Rajya Sabha Research And Study Scheme on March 20, 2020.

The Rajya Sabha Research and Study scheme is a platform for graduates and postgraduates who are interested in learning the working of the upper house of The Indian Parliament in detail. All eligible candidates can apply to this prestigious one-of-a-kind programme.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The candidates have to fill the application forms, mail them to rssei.rsrs@sansad.nic.in.

DEADLINE: MARCH 31 2020.

The RSRS Scheme has three programmes mainly.

I. Dr S Radhakrishnan Chair

An eligible candidate for The Chair would be an eminent researcher/ academic of repute/ expert with a proven record of research or scholarship and publications in the study of a political system, democratic institutions and socio-economic challenges facing the nation. Former Members of Parliament/State Legislatures and former officers of Parliament/State Legislature Secretariats are also eligible to apply. Only PhD degree holders can apply for it.

It’s a 2-year programme.

The selected candidates will be awarded a grant fund of 20 lakh INR and a chance to publish their research.

II. Rajya Sabha Fellowships

The Fellowship scheme focuses on various aspects of the functioning of parliamentary institutions and the issues and challenges facing these institutions.

The four Fellowships are open to scholars who have relevant educational qualification/experience for undertaking the study in line with the objective of the scheme. Former Members of Parliament/ State Legislatures and former officers of Parliament/State Legislature Secretariats are also eligible to apply.

The minimum requirement for an eligible candidate is a Master’s degree in Social Science, Law or any other related disciplines relevant to the subject of study. Candidates with an M.Phil or PhD will be given preference.

The selected candidates will be awarded a grant fund of 8 lakh INR and a chance to publish their research.

The duration is 18 months which extendable by 6 months.

III. Rajya Sabha Student Engagement Internship

Students pursuing graduation and post-graduation courses in any discipline are eligible for the internship programme during summer vacation. There would be ten internships, five each for the Graduate and Post-Graduate applicants. The internship positions among the Graduate and Post-Graduate applicants will, however, vary depending on the applications received and the suitability of applicants.

The selected candidates will be awarded a stipend of 10,000 INR per month.

The duration of the internship is two months from the date of selection.

The interns will be awarded a certificate at the completion of their research project.
