Check Out Cord’s Flagship Store In Delhi This Weekend

Maanya Sachdeva

A cluster of tailoring shops, with a few snack corners and meat shops for good measure - Mehar Chand Market of the past has evolved into a glitzy, boutique-lined shopper’s paradise. Joining the likes of Nappa Dori, Fabindia, Nur, The Altitude Store and Bhane, Cord’s first flagship store opened earlier this year. Photographs of their handcrafted leather bags started popping up on Instagram’s Discover feed back in 2015 and, since then, everyone’s wanted to get their hands on these skillfully designed bags. As the originally online-only label expanded their product line to include apparel, the fashion industry sat up and took notice.

Two years on, Cord’s striking leather bags and contemporary clothing have been everywhere, which means that you’re probably familiar with that twinge of disappointment when a style you’ve been saving up for has sold out. The trip to Cord’s new store in one of South Delhi’s most upmarket colonies is well worth it, then, if it means you can walk out with the gorgeous Foldover tan tote bag.

Instant gratification isn’t the only reason to head to the new Cord store. Designers and co-founders Pranav Guglani and Neha Singh have been careful to thread stories into each of their products, consistently for over two years now - art, travel and fashion come alive, remarkably, in their bags, clothes and accessories. Cord offline is an extension of this design philosophy and has been envisioned (and brought to life) as an experience. Clean lines, bold shapes, Indian craftsmanship and symmetry feature prominently in the collection, while also finding space in their flagship store.

Run your hands over the fabric, hold up a shirt and give us a twirl - the Cord store will have you browsing for a bit before you let the smooth jazz guide you to the checkout counter.
