When Pranav Misra, the co-founder of the Indian streetwear brand HUEMN is not designing pieces for the brand inspired by love letters exchanged between Rainer Maria Rilke and Lou Andreas-Salome or French art schools, he's writing poems, turning his life experiences into a tapestry of personal narrative through proetry.
His latest poetry reading will take place on November 26, at 7 pm, the KNMA Foundation in Saket, New Delhi. During this intimate gathering, the Lucknow-born poet & designer will share his most recent works, offering a glimpse into the raw and unapologetic autobiographical narratives that characterize his poetic style.
Misra's poetry takes audiences on a journey through his diverse muses, touching on themes ranging from the women in his life to fragmented memories and everyday philosophy. His characteristic tongue-in-cheek humour and passionate wordplay weave together a tapestry of emotions, creating a unique and engaging poetic experience.
In a reflection on his creative process, Misra expresses the distinctive nature of his dual pursuits. "I don't merge the two sides, and I don't struggle with it," he shares in an interview. While his fashion endeavors demand pace and urgency, his poetic self unfolds at a different rhythm, marked by deliberate pacing and introspective pauses. Misra emphasizes the authenticity of his poetic voice. "This is the brutal me," he declares. Writing in Hindi, he unveils a side of himself unfiltered by the considerations of the fashion industry. For him, poetry serves as a relief—a genuine means of connection that transcends the walls often present in the realm of design and consumerism.
As Pranav Misra takes the stage for the Live Poetry Reading, attendees can expect an evening immersed in the vivid narratives of his life, expressed through the delightful cadence of his carefully crafted words.
