If you’re well versed with the fashion police account Died Prada, it’s time to switch over to Diet Paratha, an Instagram account highlighting the building brown presence in the creative industry globally.

Diet Paratha, the brainchild of Anita Chiba started off as an account solely dedicated to sharing vintage Bollywood movie posters and has now emerged as a platform championing South Asian, Middle Eastern and North African creatives.

Diet Paratha was made in a bid to reconnect with her South Asian identity and mend the evident lack of representation for South Asian creatives in western creative spaces. The Instagram account focuses on championing, rather than cancelling, and ultimately aims to build a community of Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian creatives that have too often been overlooked.

Diet Paratha’s platform sheds light on the bigger picture, from emerging South Asian models to music creatives and impactful photo projects, there is a certain sense of ally-ship that goes beyond tokenism and performative façade.

Diet Paratha’s main focus is to showcase South Asian talent in a positive light, inspiring and uplifting marginalised communities and owning the narrative.
