#HGSessions || Nanok

Homegrown Staff

Jai Vaswani, otherwise known as Nanok, is a producer and DJ from Mumbai, who has been a veteran of the club circuit in the city for over 10 years. With the release of his newest album, Death By Shoelaces, in March 2014, Nanok makes a departure from the sound of his previous records, to a dance floor-friendly house/disco/funk vibe that is quickly being recognised as one of the freshest sounds currently emerging from the Indian independent electronica space.

Born in Queens, New York, Nanok moved to Mumbai at a very young age, and discovered his love for music and began DJing in the city, before travelling to London to study music production at Point Blank where he discovered a range of new sounds. On returning to Mumbai, Nanok became a regular in the clubs and party circuit in Mumbai, and was invited to play at some of the most renowned clubs in the city at the time. After featuring his quirky, feel-good video recently in ‘Year-End Roundups: 17 Of The Best Indie Music Video Releases Of 2014’, we decided to get him to make us a set for #HGSessions to go with.

This is what he had to say about his set: “A bunch of easy-listening music I like and a couple of my own tracks. Good for a pool party.”
