Bangalore-based electronic music producer, Blent aka Aniket Vidyadhar, has been sounding off the airwaves in our occupied spaces these days. Though we haven’t met him personally, from the information we’ve managed to gather, it would appear that his sonic art is merely an extension of himself. The darker, grittier samples he appears to have an affinity for are a reasonably good representation of his ‘depressive’ personality and an inability to ‘get along with people’ easily. As he put it himself, doing this ‘keeps him alive’ and that beautiful desperation translates into a world that we can all relate to, even if many of us would rather not be conscious of it. For the somewhat wary—fear not. There’s a familiarity akin to the sounds of many of his influence from Four Tet to Flying Lotus so you’re likely to have a totem to hold onto.
We got him to curate the 2nd HG Sessions for us and in little under an hour, we can promise that Blent will take you on a serious mind trip. Not the kind that invades your more immediate senses but one that manages to permeate through to the voids that rarely get filled.
Here’s what he had to say about it:
”I stay indoors, most of the time. And when I’m not working on music production or sound design, I tend to read, write or simply dissociate. The music in this mix serves as background music to that. I’ve included tracks from some of my favorite artists (Panda Bear, Shlohmo, Aphex Twin). I’ve also slipped in a few of my own tunes. Hope you like it.”
