A Drive Is Planting 10 Lakh Trees In Delhi-NCR, Here’s How You Can Help

Archit Shetye

Globally infamous for its toxic levels of pollution, it seems Delhi’s air isn’t getting better anytime soon. The city’s lifestyle inches closer to a frightening dystopia of masked faces as even the greenest of foliage seem inadequate to better the lives of the citizens. From depleting water tables to dried up lakes, it’s clear that we are running out of time.

To live in a world with no clean air to breathe? It’s evident that this pressing issue is much more than an environmental concern and a social hazard. Despite literally being slapped in our faces by this ugly reality, the lack of efforts and apathy from government organisations is nothing short of cruel. Things need to get better and it seems it’s in the hands of the people.

Presenting – People’s Movement. People’s Movement is an inspiring initiative that aims to take matters into their own hands by executing a plantation drive of planting 10 lakh trees across Delhi-NCR. Brainchild of Aditya Singhal, the idea of this movement was birthed from frustration and was a response to the lack of attention shown to this dire situation.

The planning of the drive started on 14th June and will be executed on 28th July. This people-led campaign is planning to take on this enormous task with the help of organisations, schools, rotary groups and more, all committed to do their bit to plant trees in the designated areas. So far, they’ve already managed the digging of 6 lakh pits, water, fertilisers and have set up the needed maintenance for the saplings to sustain in future. They are looking for any form of support to reach their goal. They are also welcoming organisation and individuals who are willing to donate plants for this initiative.

If you want to support this movement, you can donate money through the following ways:

Further details shall be announced soon so stay tuned for updates on their Facebook and Instagram.
