India’s advances in the vast realm of space technology have been noteworthy, thanks to the hard work of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). While the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) that was launched to ‘explore and observe Mars surface features, morphology, mineralogy and the Martian atmosphere’ recently completed three years, the organisation marked a new milestone by launching multiple satellites with one vehicle last year.
On this note, ISRO has proposed a plan to launch one rocket every month from 2018, reported The Better India. The launches shall carry satellites for the purpose of various applications, according to ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar. Besides, ISRO received a sensational INR 9,000 crore budget for the year 2017-18, which has contributed constructively to the agenda for the new year. Starting from January itself, the organisation has planned the launch of Cartosat-2E remote-sensing spacecraft that shall take off with 28 nano and micro-satellites.
Presently, ISRO is setting the stage for Chandrayaan-2 that shall take off in the first quarter of the next year. ISRO has also collaborated with TeamIndus, the only Indian team from the five finalists competing for the prestigious $30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE. The duo are working on launching a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) weighing 600 kilograms.
With its series of space exploration projects, ISRO has certainly made its mark as one of the leading space research organisations of the world.
