Mental Health First: Follow These Tips To Manage COVID-19 Anxiety

Indeed, news is meant to keep us aware, but as of 2021, its consumption seems to be a source of distress and discomfort. With the situation of the country with record-high COVID-19 cases and deaths, it seems difficult to maintain a positive outlook –– you need not be affected by the virus to be bogged down mentally. Regardless, your feelings and stress are valid.

Sarla Totla, The Mindspace Project on Instagram, shared some valuable tips to manage anxiety around COVID-19. With a certain need of such resources, her insights are collected and conveyed concisely for us to consume.

The Mindspace Project is a practice run by Sarla Totla, a trained psychological counselor, therapist, and mental health advocate, based out of Kolkata, India. She has been helping teens, adults, and older adults understand their thoughts, feelings, and actions better for over a decade. As part of her work, she has the privilege of working with all three divisions of our armed forces –– the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

Her approach through one on one therapy sessions is to provide a safe space, a guided process, and effective tools, online and offline, to enhance the quality of life and to build healthy relationships. Her areas of expertise include combating stress, depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, parental guidance, addiction & substance abuse, and personal growth challenges such as self-esteem and confidence issues.

Performing small acts to calm one’s mind is always useful –– such tips are worth trying out, and following on a daily basis to maintain one’s mental health. We do hope you try for yourself.
