Over the last few years, Indian producers have worked tirelessly to carve out a unique niche for themselves across the global music landscape. The collective wealth of sounds, samples and arrangements that they’ve put out into the world are both representative of the rich homegrown musical heritage that they were born into and shining, audacious examples of exquisite sonic experimentation.
In a bid to spotlight this, record label and creative talent agency Skip-A-Beat is bringing a showcase of some of the best homegrown electronic music pioneers across the country to antiSOCIAL Mumbai this weekend, as part of a larger concert series that will also see them hit cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. The brainchild of Tejas Nair aka Spryk, the label aims to unveil the rich, underground currents of electronic music across the subcontinent.
The concert series will aim to break away from the hype that comes with borrowed pop cultural trends that dance and nightclub cultures are often all too keen to embrace. It instead focus on distinctly homegrown sounds that invoke the authentic cultural and creative experiences of the producers themselves. You can also watch live streams of each performance via Skip-a-Beat’s YouTube channel.
