In a celebration of India's rich and diverse independent music landscape, Greater Than Gin, the country's first craft gin, is set to host 'The Spot Concerts,' an exciting two-day event under the #ListenGreater initiative. Scheduled for January 27th and 28th at The Piano Man, Eldeco Centre, New Delhi, this concert aims to amplify the voices of local independent musicians, uniting them under one roof in a vibrant showcase of live Indo-fusion and electronica acts.
Greater Than Gin, as a champion of all things local, initiated the #ListenGreater campaign to support India's burgeoning indie music scene. The Spot Concerts stand as an extension of this initiative, serving as a culmination of various shows, studio sessions, and commissions, providing a unique and immersive experience over two consecutive days.
The Piano Man, renowned for transforming the music landscape of Delhi with high-quality sound and diverse artist lineups over the past five years, emerged as the perfect partner. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to fostering indie talent and creating memorable cultural experiences.
The first day of 'The Spot Concerts' will feature a lineup of live Indo-fusion acts. Bawari Basanti will kick off the evening with a blend of classical folk and experimental elements and this will be followed by INGA's quintet, fusing folk, pop, and jazz. The night will culminate in a crescendo by The Revisit Project, an eight-member band exploring life, love, and Indian politics through swanky old-school funk and groovy rhythmic jazz.
Day 2 promises a captivating journey through different musical eras with four Live Electronica acts. Dee En will transport the audience back through time with nostalgic dream pop and psychedelia from the 60s-80s, followed by Alboe's Indian classical-electronic fusion pop from the early 90s. Goya will bridge the musical eras with cinematic soundscapes and ambient electronica, leading to a captivating conclusion by Zenguin, featuring mind-bending riffs and futuristic sci-fi synth soundscapes from the 20s.
To complement the performances, Greater Than Gin will curate exclusive menus for each day with an aim to compliment the experimental, minimal, and bold ethos of each artist.
Vaishnavi Mannava, Brand Manager of Greater Than Gin, expressed their belief in bringing indie artists to the fore of local scenes, stating, "We believe these amazing indie artists deserve The Spot on your playlists, here’s a concert to deliver them from ours to yours."
Anand Virmani, Co-founder and CEO of Nao Spirits, further emphasized that Listen Greater is an extension of Greater Than Gin's commitment to setting high standards for gin while championing local choices.
Arjun Sagar Gupta, Founder and CEO of The Piano Man Group, conveyed his excitement about collaborating with Greater Than Gin, saying, "Our new space allows us to do so much more than we've been able to do so far, and we're working together with Greater Than to create a memorable weekend and to explore the cultural potential of The Piano Man New Delhi."
The Spot Concerts is a ticketed event with limited capacity. VIP tickets for Day 1 are available at Rs.1500, while regular tickets for both Day 1 and Day 2 are priced at Rs.1000.
'The Spot Concerts' by Greater Than Gin, in collaboration with The Piano Man, is poised to be a landmark event in Delhi's indie music scene.
