For Delhi, art has never been a distant or elite affair — it’s in the graffiti on Shahpur Jat’s walls, in the qawwalis echoing out of Nizamuddin, in the quiet elegance of Lutyens’ Delhi, and the bustle of Chandni Chowk. From being the capital of the Mughal Empire to hosting architectural marvels like Humayun’s Tomb and the Red Fort, Delhi has long been synonymous with art and culture in India.
To celebrate the city’s rich history, Delhi Art Weekend, presented by Svasa Life and Usual Suspects opens the doors of the city inviting you to take a walk through its many moods from 3rd to 12th October, 2025.
The chief venue for the event is the Travancore Palace, the former residence of the Maharaja of Travancore. Built in the 1930s, its French-British architectural design is a confluence of the old and the new — making it a fitting setting for exhibitions and conversations about Delhi’s evolving art landscape. Other participating venues include Method Delhi, Gallery Pristine, the Kiran Majumdar Museum of Art, and Bikaner House. Beyond the galleries, the Delhi Art Weekend will also offer curated culinary experiences at Dumbo Delhi, The Quorum, and Genre. These venues themselves feel like characters in the story.
The ten-day festival revolves around the theme 'In Contrast'. Its essence lies in capturing and embracing the paradoxes that define the city, and in exploring the in-between spaces that ultimately shape culture. Highlights include live music performances by artists such as Dualist Inquiry and Adi & Dishaan, as well as panel discussions on design, music, filmmaking, and journalism featuring voices like Manisha Pande, Ankur Tewari, and Anubhav Sinha. Together, these ten days will trace the nuances of Delhi’s contemporary art scene against the backdrop of its historic and ever-transforming landscape.
What sets Delhi Art Weekend apart from the usual art fairs and cultural circuits is its accessibility. It doesn’t expect you to be an expert; it asks you only to be curious. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or someone who just wants to spend an evening immersed in something new, the doors are open.
What Delhi Art Weekend aims to do is act as a needle to string the city together, reminding us that art is already woven into the fabric of daily life here. So when the city gathers this October, it isn’t just to admire or consume — but to observe, absorb, and carry something back home. The experience will remind people of the loud and quiet opulence of Delhi’s art scene. Maybe it’s a conversation that lingers, a song stuck in your head, or a piece of design that feels personal. Whatever it is, the weekend belongs to everyone who calls this city theirs, even for just a little while.
