Homegrown Staff

On 4th April, women across India will be conducting a march for change.

‘Women March 4 Change’ 2019 is to encourage women to ““use their vote to reject the current environment of hate and violence and to claim their constitutional rights as citizens of a democratic republic”.

Women across towns, metros and villages are organising the event themselves. An incomplete list has declared of 140 events across 20 states. Rallies have been declared in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahemdabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and more.

Messages were communicated across women organisations when the movement found over 200 endorsements on March 21st. Their demand for political change says, “ “We don’t want empty development, a sale of the country to the multinational companies and the industrialists. We are saying that Dalits, Muslims, Adivasis, they are rising because they are being pushed under the poverty line, losing their rights, their entitlement, and when they ask for it, they are called antinational. We do not want a Hindu rashtra. We want a secular, diverse, equality-based political system.”
