This 130-Year-Old Parsi Villa In Matheran Is The Perfect Summer Getaway By SaffronStays

You don’t even have to be an avid reader to know how most fairy tales are set — horse-rides, romantic walks, scenic settings, and of course, the happily ever after. We can’t promise the happily ever after at this 130-year-old SaffronStays Parsi villa, but we can promise brilliant home-cooked Parsi food, which is just as good, if not better. Located in Matheran, this quaint villa is something straight out of India’s colonial era, replete with vintage furniture and antique pieces.

The getaway is perfect for anyone, right from the solo traveller, to a group, or even a family. Guests are allowed access to all the common areas and the rooms booked by them, or even the entire villa, if they desire. The staff and caretaker are always at hand, especially if you opt for a delicious home-cooked meal (which is definitely recommended.)

If we were you, our evenings would be spent sipping on a cup of piping hot chai, in their gorgeous verandah. However, if you’d rather venture out and about, keep in mind that Matheran is a car-free zone, so be prepared to get a good walk in. You can also choose to hire a hand-pulled rickshaw, or ride off into the sunset on a horse. No really, horses are your only other viable form of transport, in Matheran!

Keep in mind, that while breakfast is included as part of your tariff, the other meals are not. Plan ahead, to avoid disappointment.
