If there’s anything Bengaluru is deeply passionate about, it’s its pubs, bars and breweries. After months of remaining shut due to the Coronavirus induced lockdown, these establishments are going to be opening up in a phased manner September onwards.
Keeping in line with the Unlock 4.0 guidelines provided by the central government, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa recently approved the sale and consumption of alcohol at licensed outlets.
The Times Of India reports that pubs, clubs, bars, and restaurants will be open from the beginning of September for dine-in services but with a maximum capacity of 50 per cent. Customers are expected to wear masks, socially distance themselves, and sanitise their hands at the entrance. The staff, too, must wear masks and sanitise each table after use. The AC temperature must be maintained between 24 and 30 degrees Celcius.
It’s important, however, to remember that at a time when the nation-wide daily Coronavirus case-count is at an all-time high, such steps are only being taken to aid our economy. It’s time to acknowledge our individual responsibilities and be mindful and smart in our actions. We do hope that the safety guidelines will be strictly followed so that we are able to collectively overcome this dire situation soon.
