Vir Das’s ‘Questions’ Will Coerce You To Look At The New India Differently

Meghna Mathew

Given India’s political climate, it is difficult to say who is under the radar of agendas and who is not –– a fear looms over the heads of artists, writers, comedians, or anyone with a strong will to speak out against what they believe to be incorrect.

To question someone in power seems to have become an act close to that of treason, but Vir Das, with his timeless wit poses some questions to not one, but multiple groups of people in his new video, ‘Questions’. What is a must-watch for those that have had much to say against various aspects of this country, but have found no way to articulate those thoughts, also makes for quite an entertaining 12 minutes.

From the government to those that represent it, and the media to those who discuss its broadcast on a daily basis –– Das aptly puts across his confusions about some of the behaviours that overtly or not, place things outside of perspective.

‘Questions’ is not an attack –– it is a straightforward, unafraid and much-needed series of queries that we all must introspect and look to answer. It might tick you off, but more importantly, it will get you thinking –– and in today’s India, that is a lot more than we can ask for.
