There is something about the Goan way of life that invites you in. It allows you the perfect space to pursue your creative sensibilities and hence it comes as no surprise that many artists and creatives find their way to Goa to truly express their artistry.

After having run a design studio in Bangalore for over ten years, Thomas Louis, a graduate in Ceramics Design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad also decided to shift base to Goa. His studio Thomas The Potter in Fontainhas, an area marked by colonial architecture and vibrant colours seems the perfect location for the creative venture.

“As children, we are all artists. I was very lucky to be surrounded by people who always encouraged me to pursue my art, right from when I can remember. I was sent to drawing classes even before I joined school and started Sculpture when I was in the 6th grade” says Thomas.

Seeking inspiration from animals and sea creatures alike, his pieces often have hand-painted imagery of cats, starfishes, seprents, octopuses, pigs, and seahorses. The practical and lovely ceramics are thoughtfully created in soothing colours and are the perfect conversation starters as they add that earthy element to your home.
