No Label Original Mead Is Floral, Fruity, & Celebrates Uniqueness

Samiksha Chaudhary

We all have memories of having intense and sometimes deep conversations after a couple of glasses of alcohol. After one has lost any sense of inhibition and a safe space is created for all to share their opinions unabashedly.

Keeping this in mind, No Label, a Mead brand is trying to spark conversations between friends and family in a safe space centred around various issues plaguing our country. They believe that ‘...it is only when you talk about things with your loved ones that mindsets and opinions change’.

‘The idea behind No Label came from how as humans we all tend to give each other labels on the basis of either our genders, sexuality, race, ethnicity, sex, caste or physical appearance,’ says Anant Gupta, the co-founder of No Label. ‘Not only do these labels lead to discrimination but they also impact people on an individual level. As a brand, we are founded on the philosophy of celebrating the uniqueness and equality of all.’

Prior to starting Bored Beverages, Anant Gupta co-founder of No Label was practicing as an advocate in a Delhi based law firm and Vinayak, a co-founder, was working as a consultant. Having reached saturation points in their careers, they felt the need to do something that they both loved.

‘As childhood friends, we had been drinking together for a long time and one day we got chatting about how we’re just bored of drinking beer and the usual hard alcohol that’s available in India,’ explains Anant. ‘As young consumers, we realized that we were now spoilt for choices in almost every consumer-focused segment, but the alcohol segment was something that had yet not evolved to cater to young consumers’ needs. So we decided to do something about it and that’s how Bored Beverages came to be.’

‘While looking at the various beverages that we could offer to the Indian consumers, we came across mead, which we found was a drink that was deeply rooted in Indian and world history but had been long forgotten due to the advent of beer. As a product, we found Mead to be very versatile (in terms of flavour possibilities) and lucrative from a commercial point of view,’ he adds.

No Label Original Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is made by fermenting a mixture of honey and water. It is believed that mead is probably the oldest alcohol known to us humans and it is this legacy that No Label wishes to revive.

Unlike any other mead in the market, No Label Original Mead is a lighter beverage with floral and fruity characters and lower emphasis on the bolder honey flavour found in other meads. The sweetness levels are also in the low-medium level so that the drink is neither too dry nor too sweet, making it easy to drink without a cloying effect.
