Belgium's Car Graveyard Is The Stuff Modern Armageddons Are Made Of

Admin

An erstwhile car graveyard in Belgium is sure to conjure up spooky memories for the eternally traffic enduring Mumbaikar. The Chatillon Car Graveyard in Belgium resided in an area of overgrowing forests with scores of cars lined up as if they were stuck in a traffic to nowhere. The Southern Belgium graveyard had elicited a popular conspiracy theory as to its origins of American soldiers from World War II abandoning their vehicles after the war got over as they returned home while some just considered it to be just another graveyard of cars in Belgium forests. The moss and flora covered cars have now been removed citing environmental reasons but not before ‘Urbex’ was able to take some hauntingly stunning photographs of this graveyard. Photographers Rosanne de Lange, Marcel Wiegerinck, and Theo van Vliet took multiple photos of this now extinct graveyard of whose origins still remain a mystery.
As we browsed through these photographs, we could not help predict a similar dystopian future at the Haji-Ali/Worli-Seaface or the Juhu Circle roads during peak hours, in a city with almost 24 lakh vehicles. Perhaps, this is a peak at the Mumbai’s future too.
