Bombay’s Padmini Taxi Culture Is Perfectly Captured In This Photo Narrative

Mandovi Menon

Few communities offer as much insight into a city’s culture as their taxi networks do.

In Mumbai especially, taxi drivers have grown increasingly defiant and increasingly demanding, but they come with all the drama that we Indians have learned to love and London-based photographer Dougie Wallace was quick to spot it through his trained lens. In his latest photo series, ‘Road Wallah,’ Wallace was determined to capture and chronicle the city’s fast disappearing Premier Padmini Taxis.
