The Indian Olympic Association has appealed the decision, but Vinesh has lost the chance to win a medal after making history as the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic wrestling final.
Antim Panghal was defeated in the Round of 16 of the women's 53kg wrestling event by Turkey's Zeynet Yetgil. Her only chance to win a bronze medal now depends on Zeynep reaching the final and Antim winning the repechage round.
Hockey
India's men's hockey team suffered a heartbreaking 2-3 defeat against Germany in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics. Despite goals from Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh, Germany secured the win with goals from Gonzalo Peillat, Christopher Ruhr, and Marco Miltkau. India will now compete for the bronze medal against Spain.
Golf
Aditi Ashok shot an even-par 72 in the first round of the women's golf tournament at the Paris Olympics. Diksha Dagar is currently two under par through 13 holes in her first round. The tournament continues over the next three days, with the top three golfers claiming the podium.
Table tennis
India's table tennis campaign ended with a quarterfinal loss to Germany in the women's team event. Archana Kamath won India's only match, but Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula lost their singles matches. The men's team was eliminated in the opening round.
Weightlifting
India's Mirabai Chanu, the reigning Olympic silver medalist, is set to compete in weightlifting at the Paris Olympics. Her entry weight is 200kg, a feat she has only achieved once since her Tokyo triumph. China's Zhihui, the defending champion, is considered the top contender due to her impressive performance and Olympic records in Tokyo.

The Indian Contingent: A total of 117 Indian athletes, including 5 reserves, comprising of 70 men and 47 are competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The athletes will be participating in 69 events spread across 16 sports.
Returning Medalists: Neeraj Chopra (javelin), PV Sindhu (badminton), Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting), Lovlina Borgohain (boxing), and members of the Indian men's hockey team are previous Olympic medalists.
India's First Medals: On the 4th day of the Olympics, Manu Bhaker won India's first medal, a bronze in shooting, becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. She later won a second bronze in mixed team 10m air pistol with Sarabjot Singh, making her the first Indian to win two medals at a single Olympics.
