These Stunning Images Capture The Beautiful Life & Culture Of Varanasi

Archit Shetye

Photographer Sambhav Raj was always curious to know more about the layers of stories that one can unearth on their travels to the unique parts of our country. He ditched the trips abroad and soaked his lens into the rich culture and colours that exist in every corner of India. Growing up in an urban landscape distracted him from exploring what’s beyond the glittering facade and he has made it his mission to capture just that whenever he gets free time from his day job in marketing. He was pulled towards the holy city of Varanasi, or Benaras, to witness the chaos that exists within all the calm.

His camera technique focuses on the rawness of the moment and finding beauty in the routine. All of his images are crisply graded and deliver an appealing aesthetic. From impeccably composed moments of the very cinematic aartis, to stunning views of the ghat’s sunrise and sunset, Sambhav has managed to give a visual peek into the life and culture of one of India’s most spiritual cities.
