The Muthiah House In Bangalore Is A Testament To Eco-Living
The Alternative

For people living in the city, living an entirely eco-friendly existence sometimes seems like an impossibility. Chockalingam Muthiah had the same ambition, to create a home and a lifestyle that would reflect his belief that life needs to be about giving up on unnecessary luxuries. As a businessman in Bengaluru, Muthiah strove to consume only what can either be naturally generated or preserved.

To facilitate this dream Muthiah designed a home that is completely off-the-grid by combining sustainable architecture with native wisdom. The 3,500 square foot home was constructed over a decade ago and has been entirely solar powered since its foundation and generates power for all the home appliances. The full property spans over 7,200 square feet all of which contributes to making their lifestyle eco-conscious.

Fromrain-water harvesting to on-site biomass pits, there’s everything in place to create a sustainable living environment. The set-up itself is remarkable but the sheer beauty of its earth-toned interiors makes the Muthiah house a true architectural and ecological sanctuary.
