Pupcakes & Massages - Welcome To India’s First Luxury Pet Hotel

As a pet-owner, the author of this article is aware of the extra steps that go into planning a holiday. If shortlisting a destination, evaluating accommodation options, chalking up an itinerary and making all the bookings were not enough, we’re faced with one large, anxiety-inducing decision. “Where will my pet/best friend/the only source of true happiness in this life stay?” Adding a ‘pet-friendly’ filter is sometimes helpful but, most often, it boils down to the very important question of who to trust with the job of pet-sitting while you’re away. However, news of South Asia’s first ever luxury pet hotel opening up in Gurgaon means that pet-owners in Delhi NCR have another option. Leave your pet in Critterati’s care and come back to an extremely pampered puppy. Conceptualised as a one-stop shop for pet boarding, grooming, boutique, spa, clinic and play area, Critterati was founded by Deepak and Jaanwi Chawla late last year.

If you’ve wondered what goes on behind the glittering doors of the Critterati Suite, well who can blame you? The most extravagant of this pet hotel’s rooms, the keys to this suite come with a private balcony, meant-for-dogs TV programming, swimming lessons (or splash sessions, more likely) and a private webcam in case you’re overcome with separation anxiety. This is in addition to comforts like premium bedding, two meals, two leash-free play sessions and four potty breaks that are a part of their other packages, as reported by Conde Nast Traveller. To really turn their stay into a staycation, you can sign them up for a spa session and choose from a range of rejuvenating Ayurvedic treatments, head and body massages and baths, so your pet can leave looking (and feeling) fabulous.

Set aside those biscuits and let your pet lap up non-alcoholic beer (imported from Belgium) at Critterati’s Friends ‘N’ Fur cafe. Paired with pupcakes and a scoop of bacon and vanilla ice cream, a couple of pints will have your pup nice and ready for an afternoon siesta. We hear that due consideration is given to food for humans at this cafe as well, so you can grab a snack or shoot some pool in case you’re waiting on your doggo (Critterati is also open for day-boarding). Today, Critterati sees close to 1,000 puppies run through their doors, with plans to expand the venture to cat care as well. Positioned as the ‘epitome of unquestionable affection’, Critterati caters to a segment of pet-owners who believe no price is too high for their pets-like-children.

Scroll on for a taste of the opulence that comes with the $70 per night price tag.
