Come Be A Part Of The Futures Of Learning Weekend At Maker’s Asylum
Sup Delhi

A Futures of Learning Weekend is taking place at Maker’s Asylum, Mumbai on the 14th and 15th of December, 2019. A community space focussed on fostering innovation through hands-on learning, Maker’s Asylum houses various labs that are co-located in order to facilitate prototyping of interdisciplinary ideas.

The world is facing a unique convergence of environmental, economic and social crises and there is an urgency to address this. In 2015, the leaders of the world agreed to 17 goals for a better future for all by 2030. These goals have the power to end poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change. Guided by the goals, it is now up to all of us - governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone.

While we understand that education alone cannot achieve a more sustainable future, learning systems however, represent the most powerful, systemic and massive leverage to transform societies.

This collective conversation at the Maker’s Asylum aims to bring together alternative learning spaces and communities through residencies, innovation hubs, art collectives, galleries, incubators and more, and essentially talk about the knowledge that they provide in terms of collaborative approach to problem-solving.

This weekend, on 14th December, an Open House for S.T.E.A.M. school 2019 would be held in Maker’s Asylum in partnership with C.R.I. Paris and supported by the French Embassy in India. S.T.E.A.M. school is Maker’s Asylum’s annual flagship programme that brings together a transdisciplinary and age agnostic group from across the world to work on problems of the local community aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is a creative and artistic engagement that strives to resolve the world’s problems through a rigorous process of innovation and implementation.

On 15th December, Maker’s Asylum, in collaboration with UNESCO, shares its first insights from their collective conversation in Paris, Copenhagen, Mumbai and New Delhi. Mame Omar DIOP, Chief of Education at UNESCO and other leaders from the industry will be joining the event for the day. A discussion on “Futures of Learning through Alternative Spaces” would be held at the event, over cups of tea.
