Sustainable Getaways: Immerse Yourself In This Lovingly-Restored Bungalow In The Himalayan Foothills
Jilling Terraces

Jilling Terraces, located in the foothills of the Himalayas in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, is a lovingly restored bungalow set amidst more than a hundred acres of untouched forests. It is a couple of hours away from Nainital in the South Gola range of the Himalayas, with stunning views of the Nanda Devi and the surrounding peaks on clear days. Chestnut House in Jilling Terraces was built in 1933 by a Sanskrit scholar for his Polish doctor wife pining for the cool climes of her country.

The property is located in a place that has an abundance of clean air, and mineral-rich water from the natural springs. It boasts of four luxury suites and two rooms each with private entrances. Two of the suites are independent cottages available for guests who wish to self- quarantine themselves while at the property. Safety measures include a 24-hour window between consecutive check-outs and check-ins to ensure that the space is thoroughly disinfected.

Here, at Terraces, brace yourself for an organic lifestyle, with meals sourced from raw vegetables and fruits, grown by local farmers. You can either arrange a banquet, enjoy a candlelit dinner in one corner, a casual brunch, a salad and pasta lunch, or just enjoy a sumptuous meal of your choice in the outdoors under the Kaphal tree (Myrica esculenta).

If you are looking forward to immersing yourself in natural surroundings whilst enjoying the comfort of your home, look no further. At Jilling Terraces, you can appreciate nature’s beauty through spectacular sunsets, long walks, running hot water, home-cooked meals, and humble ‘Pahadi’ hospitality.
