Nivedita is a 29-year-old visual designer and illustrator who holds this aspect close to her heart. Her illustrations, as presented on her Instagram page are dedicated to representing South Asian women in all their forms and beauty.
“I believe what we see on our Instagram pages can be so powerful and impactful, and that it’s a great place to create inclusivity and positivity. I love how so many South Asian women relate to these illustrations and feel represented,” says Nivedita.
Her portrayal of women is not extraordinary — she treats them as they are, and as real people. The pride in their strut, the poise in their outfits and the playfulness of their moods all bask in their glory through Nivedita’s illustrations. Commenting on her simple inspirations, she says, “I genuinely think most people around me are super beautiful and I am confused at why we’ve created such strange beauty standards. My effort is to draw South Asian women just as they are — adorable, intelligent, and diverse!”
