Collaboration Not Competition Is The ‘Future Of’ Streetwear Brand’s Vision

Recently, I’ve been paying attention to how my lifestyle impacts my carbon footprint, and I know many people like me who are becoming more and more aware of the consequences of their lifestyle choices for the environment.

If there’s one thing I absolutely can’t trade when it comes to fashion, it’s comfort. I love chilling in comfortable loungewear as I go through my workday from home. If there is one good thing to come out of the lockdown, then, it is how the blurred lines of work and home allow us the space to work in the comforts of home clothes.

Trying to strike a balance between conscious lifestyle choices and getting us a wardrobe for the work-from-home lifestyle is an interdisciplinary brand called Future Of which is rooted in the ideas of transparency, inclusivity, and care for the community.

In their own words, “Future Of is an interdisciplinary brand inspired by the burgeoning creative and entrepreneurial ecosystem in India. Our aim is to explore the future of different products and industries and disrupt them using conscious and sustainable design practices. We are building the future that we want to live in through Future Of and we want to inspire you to do the same.”

Their first collection explores everyday fashion and is minimalist in its approach. As far as conscious fashion goes, they use organic cotton that is grown sustainably and through ethical worker practices. Organic cotton also absorbs less water in the production of material which makes it a much more sustainable choice in the long run. Along with this, they dye their garments under Oeko-Tex standards that monitor the use of harmful chemicals.

“For our first collection, we chose to explore the Future Of Everyday Wear. This capsule collection of loungewear was designed using conscious materials. The clothes represent belonging to our community of futurists – people who are driven by the impact their choices make. It is for those that believe in learning and building with the community around them,” they say on their website
