For Rs. 300, Mumbai’s Bookworms Can Take Home A Kilo Of Books

Calling all bookworms, lit-lovers and comic book afficionados, your dream is about to come true.  For five days this month Mumbai is once again playing host to the entirely epic Books By Weight Fair.

From the 29th August to the 2nd of September, Fabiani Art Gallery in Vile Parle West will be buried under an avalanche of books for you to wade through to your heart’s content. This much-awaited event curated by Butterfly Books has amassed many fans over the years for their unique approach to selling books.

The concept is pretty straightforward, pick your set of personal snuggle-buddies and instead of paying for each book individually you pay a sum based on the total weight. A kilo will cost you a mere Rs. 300 so we hope you’re ready for a serious workout carrying them all home.

As there’s no rhyme or reason to how the books are organised, it may take a lot of digging through lovestruck vampires and terrifyingly obsessive businessmen to get to the really good stuff but then again every Princess had to kiss a few frogs to find their Prince Charming. Still, with over 50,000 options to choose from, you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy so come on down and binge until your bibliophilic soul can take no more.
