Founded by Rudraksh in 2022, the homegrown label Gagged— a queer run, gender-free and inclusive fashion space and clothing brand for all was born out of a need to express themselves through fashion and to have a representation in the world of fashion. What defines the homegrown label’s aesthetic and design is the representation through colours, from a minimal design to a maximalist approach, they want to serve different aesthetics under an affordable price so that everyone gets the chance to represent and feel themselves fully, on a budget.

NIFT Gandhinagar graduate, Ashish Satyavrat Sahu’s immense love for Jharkhand’s culture and its people shows in his brand ‘Johargram’, which is a celebration of Jharkhand in its truest form. A leading label in the streetwear space, providing a homegrown spin to sustainable and ethical fashion, they have been promoting the textiles of Jharkhand from their inception. Having always reflected Sahu’s love for all things Jharkhandi, the label’s artistry has always promoted local crafts and puts a spotlight on Jharkhand’s lifestyle.

III. Kardo

Founded in 2013, KARDO was launched as an antithesis to mass-produced fast fashion, with the desire to slow things down while paying attention to the small details of menswear. The label is inspired by traditional workwear and tailoring, in that way KARDO dresses the modern man with subtle twists on classic silhouettes. All their products are made using natural handcrafted textiles in their New Delhi workshop. The brand is at the forefront of a movement to create low environmental impact clothing through craft.

“Hand-made prints made by me in-house have and always will be the defining aspect,” says 25-year-old Prakhar Chauhan whose clothing brand Prxkhxr makes relaxed fits and everyday wear apparel. From printed shirts to comfortable t-shirts with fun designs, this brand should be on your radar for all things cool. Founded by NIFT Alum, Kedar Maddula, Wunderhaus was introduced to enable a skill exchange between the youth and artists and artisans who work with indigenous textiles and handicrafts. Their philosophy revolves around exploring the historical craftsmanship that has its roots in traditional Indian textiles. “We are a cool and fashionable label and have a strong focus on popularising handloom and handicraft amongst the youth,” says Kedar whose brand specializes in short capsule wearable art fashion collections. Primarily a clothing and accessories brand, all their products are gender-fluid as the all-wear brand aims at dissolving gender-specific categorisation in the fashion industry.
