Authentic, raw, experimentative and untapped is the best way to define the young music producer Suchi Ahuja who goes by the stage name SUCHI. An up-and-coming artist, shuttling between her multiple hometowns in Oslo, London and New Delhi, SUCHI carries her roots deep into the music she churns out in clubs.

What started out as a means of channelling her musical creativity for the radio back in 2016 as an accompaniment to her full-time job at an advertising agency has evolved into something exciting and much bigger. The Indian-Norwegian music producer can now be seen dishing out the best of jazz, disco, funk, hip-hop and R&B, some of which also include iconic flips of old Indian music samples. An active part of Daytimers (of Boiler Room fame), Suchi was also recently seen touring India in her latest Boiler Room escapade.

Growing up in Norway, she was exposed to a lot of melodic and experimental electronic music and those early influences have really stuck with her. Whether it is Röyksopp, The Knife or Björk, they have all definitely shaped her sound and her Indian background has influenced the love she has for percussive music that shines through in her productions.

Her time on the radio allowed her to learn how to DJ and became a space where she found herself increasingly playing more club-focused electronic music. It was the 2020 lockdowns that allowed her the creative time and space to start experimenting with music production more seriously. Making use of the extra time on her hands, she learned how to use Ableton and tapped into her mentoring network. She closed 2021 strong with both her debut at the Boiler Room as well as with the release of her debut EP ‘Swift.’ With Swift she was able to build an ambient and introspective EP with an icy atmosphere laced with ethereal moments of IDM and breakbeat-driven goodness.

Over the past two years, SUCHI has become one of the most exciting new names in the UK and global electronic music circuit. In fact, DJ Mag has also listed her as one of the ‘12 Emerging Artists You Need To Hear’ for 2022. Her music isn’t something that can be categorized to fit a genre. There is an infusion of techno and UK breaks that seamlessly blend into the many Indian elements she adds to her productions; creating a sound that is timeless, global and uniquely her own. She also time and again experiments with genres and sounds she personally loves, whether it is Indian disco, Syrian funk or Brazilian boogie.

With a global outlook on music production, SUCHI is an artist who continues to impress and we can’t wait to see all the ways in which she’ll continue to make the world groove.
