What does Christmas mean to you?

As a non-practising non-Christian, Christmas to me means brunch with friends and family, a good pot roast, some wine, and lots and lots of laughter. It's the end of the year when everyone — even those who don't get days off during Diwali or Durga Pujo — are back home.

Call it a typical Calcuttan colonial hangover, if you will, but I love everything about the classic Christmas brunch — I love having friends over, I love prepping a whole chicken or a slab of pork belly for the roast, and I love opening a bottle of good wine with friends even though I'm more of a whisky man (Scotch, neat, with a dash of water; although more recently, I have been dabbling in Japanese whiskies as well).
