Toki means 'time' in Japanese. It is a concept rich in meaning across the world, but particularly in Japan where respect for tradition and reinvention sparks a powerful creative energy. Inspired by that interplay between the traditional and the modern, Suntory Toki brings together old and new — the House of Suntory's proud heritage and its innovative spirit — to create a blended Japanese whisky that is both groundbreaking and timeless.

A relatively newer style in the world of distilled liquors, Japanese whiskies have been around since the 19th century. But it was only in 1923, with the foundation of the Yamazaki distillery in Osaka by Shinjiro Torii — the founder of the House of Suntory — that Japanese whiskies came into their own. Shinjiro Torii was a man of vision and ambition. When he broke ground on the Yamazaki distillery in 1923, he imagined a Japanese whisky culture to rival the world. Toki is a step towards realising that vision.

'One Night in Toki-O', a first-of-its-kind experience at the Pioneer Hall — a heritage Portuguese bungalow in Bandra West, Mumbai — is a celebration of the timelessness of Japanese culture where the confluence of the traditional and the modern sparks an exciting world of creative reinvention.

'One Night In Toki-O' transports you to an exciting new world where the juxtaposition of old and new highlights our creative reinvigoration — a vivid world that is dynamic, playful, and whimsical. Usher in and celebrate the spirit of this exciting, engaging, and fun world with Mumbai's first vinyl listening bar pop-up with Wax On Wax Off — India's one and only vinyl-exclusive culture hotspot, curated by Sindhi Curry; Tropical Wax featuring Emmanuel and Palomma; listening experiences by vinyl collective The Revolver Club; A Jazz Kissa or 1920s Japanese Jazz café experience; and Ravi Rajagopalan, the founder and CEO of Boson Systems and host of Jazz Saturdays.

There will also be a Japanese Art Studio by Dirty Hands Company with live printing sessions celebrating the art of printmaking, and bar takeovers by Santosh Kukreti of Onrique Mumbai and a Japanese Izakaya experience by Tamari, as well as a Matcha bar by Tokyo Matcha Bar & Café — Mumbai's first Matcha bar — and a Mochi pop-up by Mochi Co.
