Antariksha Sanchar Is A Trans-Media Gaming Project Exploring South-Indian Narratives & Culture

Indian art today has transcended forms and mediums. Innovators and artists are often finding new ways to immortalise traditional Indian art forms and in the process have given a contemporary and futuristic identity to the same. So much so that an entire genre has emerged out of this practice. Indofuturism involves delving into India’s rich ancient history to try and reimagine alternate futures through historical/mythical characters.

Through NFTs and several digital art interventions, artists today are shaping a niche for the genre amidst the international art community.

Giving South-Indian Culture A Futuristic Twist

A Gujarat-based studio is recreating the nuances of South-Indian culture into a futuristic game concept that has decolonised, Indian narratives as its core. Antariksha Sanchar is a transmedia exploration that delves into the history and heritage of South-India through the lens of its characters. The concept is said to inspired by the dream theorems of mathematician Ramanujam and classical dancer Jayalakshmi Eshwar.

The concept is divided into episodes that have intricate detailing in the form of 3D modelled South-Indian architecture, landscapes and home objects and ornaments. The concept also features an Indian classical score that is inspired by Carnatic music used in Jayalakshmi Eshwar’s famous operas.

The game intends to further Indian narratives that are secular, traditional and accessible to the masses.
