With the COVID-19 outbreak unleashing a tense atmosphere all over the world, the best and the worst traits of human beings have been brought into the open. The ICCR (The Indian Council for Cultural Relations) believes that the global pandemic giving rise to a host of varied human emotions like “empathy, sympathy, kindness, concern, anger, frustration, social cohesiveness and bravery among others,” in their own words, can evoke artistic expressions through different media. Artists all over the world have already started exploring different avenues – poetry, prose, paintings, graphic etc to express their feelings. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) with its focus on “building cultural links with countries around the world and connecting people to people through Cultural and Educational exchanges” calls on Indians and citizens of the world to express these emotions – through Art in the Time of CORONA: United against Corona- Express through Art. They can express their thoughts on the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing, quarantine and the fight against the virus through their artworks.

Both amateur and professional artists from the world over are welcome to send in their work. The council encourages submissions of artistic expressions in the following media:

Paintings – on Canvas/Paper – oil, watercolours, pencil, crayons

• Digital Art – Graphical Posters & Paintings

The expressions of artists are categorized into the following:

• Contemporary Art

• Folk & Tribal Art

• Cartoons & Illustrations

• Digital & New Age Art

In view of the ongoing lockdown in almost all the cities of India and countries across the world, with postal, courier and transport agencies not functional for normal purposes, participants are requested to send high-resolution photos of their work to ICCR by May 01 2020.
