Diving into universal topics of home, love, and attachment, renowned artist Anilakumar Govindappa, takes viewers on a journey through his memories of various cities in an ongoing exhibition. A recipient of several awards, including the South Indian Art Exhibition Chandra Ilango Jury Award (2013) and the HRD Young Artist Scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Culture (2012), he has been part of many workshops, residencies and has continually challenged artistic limitations.

Known for capturing small moments in ordinary life and expanding them into the extraordinary, in ‘A Reverie of a Memory’, the artist relives the moments of his distant and not-so-distant past spread across cities. Though not exclusively aligned with constructivism, through the colourful lens of his wild imagination, he tells an open-ended story, leaving much to the perception of the viewer. Govindappa’s practice is one of observations, including the landscape of life and the acknowledgement of the political.

Their work urges one to take what they can from each depiction and let it stir something inside; aallowing them to recollect the overlooked pleasantness of a moment in the world. The exhibition will be taking place at Method’s newest gallery in Juhu. The Juhu gallery is the largest of Method’s locations, and aims to enrich the neighborhood by offering opportunities for creative exploration and fostering a sense of togetherness.

Furthermore, Method Juhu will feature a café in collaboration with Subko, providing a relaxing environment where visitors can indulge in specialty coffee and delectable treats from the Subko bakehouse.

Date: July 15 to August 21, 2023.

Venue: Method Juhu Armaan Bungalow, 23 Hatkesh Society, NS Road #6 JVPD, Juhu, Mumbai
