For anyone that still believes food in India begins and ends with curry, consider this your very long and overdue wake up call. When it comes to fine dining, we can whip up feasts to rival Michelin starred restaurants across the globe. In addition to the dishes themselves, India has undergone a huge upheaval in the way we regard and respect our produce. Sustainable, organic and local ingredients are the need of the hour and all the top chefs swear by the difference in taste and texture, not to mention the additional benefits to health and agriculture.
In celebration of this blossoming culture, Bangalore’s beloved Mediterranean eatery, Fava is hosting a Weekend Gourmet Market pop-up to showcase the best goodies from around the country. Among the products on sale this weekend are cheese from Mango Hill Pondicherry, artisanal coffee from Estate Craft, exquisite hand-crafted chocolate from Earth Loaf, and organic produce from Green Path and Chef Social. There will even be opportunities to learn about growing your own garden from My Dream Garden and recycled products from Anu Life on sale to really emphasise sustainable living.
For the true gourmands in the audience Chef Shazia Khan will host a masterclass in Mediterranean cooking from 1 PM to 4 PM. so you can learn how to whip up a feast with your new purchases. If you need a break from all this excitement, sit back and indulge in a mezze platter and a cold sangria before heading back into the world of organic excellence. There’s no better way to spend this weekend.
