If there ever was a reason to leave your house during this constant downpour, it would be Woodside Inn’s annual Burger and Beer Festival. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill burgers though; they’re so much more than a patty thrown into a bun — think Tempura Fried Soft Shell Crab Burger, Sweet Quinoa Cottage Burger, Confit Duck Leg Burger, and about seven more burgers just as thrilling. Considering Woodside Inn is celebrating 10 years of being the city’s pioneering force behind craft beers and burgers (the only food combo we want in our lives), this curated menu promises to be their best yet.

“Our aim has always been to create an equal platform for both, craft breweries and craft beer lovers. Initially, everyone’s go-to beer was Kingfisher. No one was truly aware of the different beer styles, but after a point we realised Mumbai was ready. People were travelling more, had access to more information, and our weather simply encourages the beer culture,” explains Pankil Shah, co-owner of Woodside Inn, on the craft brewery scene in Mumbai. Considering Woodside Inn now has 25 craft beers on tap, making it the largest selection in India, only proves how right the founders of were.

Of course, this means their beer selection wasn’t ignored during this festival. In fact, they went one step ahead and created two new beers for the festival — Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. “We always collaborate with companies for our festival, and this year we wanted to showcase the disparity in the spectrum. One is a light, refreshing day beer, and the other is a dark beer; a good confluence of traditional Belgian pale ale,” elaborates Pankil.

Their burger menu sees some old favourites from their previous menu, but introduces two new contenders: The Tempura Fried Soft Shell Crab Burger and Parmesan Crusted Portobello Mushroom Burger with Monterey Jack Cheese and Truffle Essence. To be honest, the crab burger was what initially caught our eye. It only came around due to the fact that no one else was using actual crab in a burger; it’s mainly crab patties or fake crab sticks. After some research, they found a crab whose whole shell is edible, to add some crunch between the burger buns!

The festival which began on 20 July, goes on until 27 August, so you have an ample amount of time to sample a majority of their menu. (Or, just go with a group of friends so you can steal a bite from each of their burgers.)
