With each sip of coffee at The Tuscan Table, one tastes the rich knowledge of an entire community's heritage. It's a story that began in 1959, on the sprawling Thalannar estate in Valparai. This estate, perched at a unique altitude, possessed conditions and properties that naturally evolved it into a coffee plantation. What sets this estate apart is its steadfast commitment to natural practices; refraining from pesticides and opting for traditional soil management techniques that have been passed down through generations.
Over the span of six decades, three generations of the family have lent their collective knowledge and expertise to the Thalannar estate. It's this wealth of experience that compelled Managing Director Nithesh Aravind.K & Swethaa.S to establish 'The Tuscan Table', a rustic cafe in Chennai. Every worker has worked on the estate for 35 years, forming a close-knit community deeply versed in the intricacies of coffee cultivation. The result of this shared history is poured into each cup of coffee served.
The ambience and the name draws inspiration from the architectural style of Tuscany. Tuscan homes are characterised by their sturdy wooden beams and charming stone-washed walls. Additionally, these rustic features are complemented by more refined elements like marble flooring and opulent tapestries. This very ethos of comfort and refinement is embodied in every aspect of The Tuscan Table experience. Every detail, from the light switches to the ceilings, has been thoughtfully curated to create an authentic, aged atmosphere.
From the careful sourcing of ingredients to the artful crafting of pastries and the introduction of innovative coffee machinery, every element has been chosen with a discerning eye. As the cafe continues to evolve, visitors can look forward to an expanded menu, including breakfast options, bread loaves, and savoury delights. There is also the presence of a rooftop view, with picturesque scenery to complement the scrumtious food on offer.
While the current menu focuses primarily on beverages and pastries, each item speaks to the quality and taste. The velvety indulgence of the French Hot Chocolate and the buttery perfection of the croissant has swiftly allowed it to become a favourite among Chennai's cafe aficcianados. Even the prices reflect the commitment to quality and the exceptional experience offered.
From the meticulous sourcing of ingredients to the artful crafting of pastries and the incorporation of cutting-edge coffee technology, every detail of their product has been chosen with a discerning eye. The cafe exudes an elegance which invites guests to linger and savour each sip.
