The Big Aaaaart Walk, organised by The Art Curry, is a travelling community-led art experience that encourages people to slow down and engage with their surroundings through creative expression. Open to artists and beginners alike, participants can sketch, journal, crochet, collage, write, or create in any way that feels natural to them.
Walks can be incredibly powerful. Slowing down, feeling the wind blow around you, and noticing details that would otherwise slip past in the rush of everyday life can completely transform the way you experience a place.
That is the idea at the heart of The Big Aaaaart Walk, a travelling community art initiative by The Art Curry that invites people to experience their cities a little differently.
Part creative gathering and part mindful exploration, The Big Aaaaart Walk encourages participants to step away from their routines and engage more deeply with the spaces around them. Rather than rushing from one destination to another, attendees are invited to observe, wander, create, and connect, without the pressure of producing perfect art or calling themselves artists.
The event embraces a broad and inclusive definition of creativity. Participants might sketch a streetscape, jot down observations in a journal, crochet while sitting under a tree, create collages inspired by their surroundings, or experiment with any form of expression that feels meaningful to them. The emphasis is not on technical skill but on noticing and responding to the world around us.
At a time when many social interactions are mediated through screens, the walk also offers an opportunity for genuine, low-pressure community building. Strangers come together through a shared curiosity about art, cities, and the small details that often go unnoticed in everyday life. There are no expectations or rigid outcomes, just a space where people can create alongside one another and enjoy the process.
This year, The Art Curry is taking the concept on the road, with its signature rickshaw travelling across six cities as part of the expanding Big Aaaaart Walk series. The tour begins in Dehradun on July 12, followed by Chandigarh on July 19, Nainital on July 26, Pune on August 2, Bangalore on August 9, and Kochi on August 16.
Participants are encouraged to bring their preferred creative tools and an open mind. Whether you're a seasoned artist, a casual doodler, or someone who simply enjoys observing the world, The Big Aaaaart Walk promises a refreshing reminder that creativity often begins with paying attention.
