While we meet every Friday with nothing but joy as this means not having to put pants on for two whole days — sometimes social obligations state otherwise. Planning ahead for a weekend is hard work, more so with the multitude of options that are available. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Zomato or Swiggy to help us filter events out, which is why we decided to step in as your Weekend Warriors. While we can’t promise to be entirely unbiased, we can promise to offer you a hand-picked section of events we know you’ll enjoy.

Quit wasting your precious time, and get scrollin’!

For Whom Food Outweighs All Else

Hands up if you’re that friend who hates being on the dance floor with a 100 other people rubbing up against you. Fries (or whatever food you pick for the night) are all you really need, in the end. And of course, some beer. Don’t let the usual weekend plans get you down sonny, there’s a whole world of food waiting to be explored out there!

While this isn’t really an event of sorts, it is still quite the expedition. Held on every Sunday irrespective of the seasons, the market sources all their produce from the Nashik/Pune/Mumbai belt. Everything sold at the market is completely organic, without chemicals or artificial pesticides.

The Bohri Kitchen is known for their experimental kitchen concept and their Eid feast only means the spread’s going to get more elaborate! From Smoked Mutton Kheema Samosas and Bheja Cutlets to Mutton Biryani and Paya Soup — this is one feast you don’t want to miss out on. Message them on Facebook to confirm your spot.

Think of traditional food from Meghalaya, cooked with the freshest seasonal produce and exclusive ingredients. The cuisine of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo communities of the state will feature in this feast. The only rule this feast has is BYOB. While the event on Saturday is nearly booked up, their Sunday event still has a few spots open. Book it by emailing them at meraki.bombay@gmail.com for your confirmation!

When Music Is All You Need

Our readers know by now that Homegrown has a certain niche of music that we expose our audience to. We’ve expanded on that in this event selection though, to be fair. From vinyl sessions to an all-out Friday night kinda’ gig — take your pick.

If you’re looking for a break from the commercial sounds everyone is accustomed to, look no further. Start your weekend with the right vibes tonight.

Not only are smooth tunes a part of the agenda for the night, but a cover charge of INR 999/- allows you access to unlimited beer and wine! Swing by if you’re looking for a quieter night out.

The Cultural Hub Of Activity

You’re never too old for a good ol’ Arts & Crafts sesh, but don’t worry, this section isn’t just relegated to literal art. Culture is what we thrive on, and what India is known for! It’d be majorly disappointing if we didn’t have a section dedicated to those who’d rather spend their weekend learning a new skill or simply immersing themselves in art, whatsoever form it may come in.

An exhibit that showcases the works of nine traditional, award-winning artists that’s free for all? Each of these artists have their stories portrayed through their creations. From paintings and plaques to sculptures and dyes — their art forms have been passed down over generations.

This intensive weekend workshop promises to teach you how to make and print wooden blocks on a cotton fabric, under an expert’s guidance. Not only are all the art materials provided at the workshop, but you also get to take home a new stole, decorated by you!

Bombay Underground is hosting an international Zine exhibition, ‘Z Is For Zines’ at WAA (What About Art?), over the weekend. All the zines on display are on sale as well — support a local artist or even someone across the world.

The iconic Matterden CFC, also known as Deepak Cinema, has grown to become an art hub drawing in like-minded art lovers from across the city. Their recent announcement has thrilled film lovers — every Sunday evening, for the next 26 months, they will be screening classic films for the public. This week they’ve got the 1957 film 12 Angry Men, directed by Sidney Lumet, and with tickets at just INR 125, we couldn’t be happier.
