With the advent of the ecological existential crisis brewing – it is imperative that the world needs to sow in the seeds of change. It seeks for a major reform within the palms of it’s own children. The Tribe, Goa is an intimate circle of likeminded individuals solely created for the purpose and the revival/preservation of our ancestral roots. The Tribe yearns to dig deep within the muddied floor and permeate the seeds of change. To look past the technicalities that divide the masses, to remould the future and join hands to terminate the world’s undoing. The Tribe has taken initiatives for many ecological conservation projects – dealing with waste management, deforestation of the Karmal Ghat and many other such projects that gradually pave their way for a better tomorrow.
Their latest venture comprises of a platform designed for artists to create and express their concern with regard to the climate crisis. The expenses and costs borne have to be incurred by the artists. Food, accommodation, mentoring, workshops, documentation of work, and arts/music is what’s included in the program. This is a call for reconciliation between children of the Earth and Mother Nature, herself. Artists from every nook and corner of the world have been welcomed to collaborate, with open arms. It calls for a wide array of arts and crafts extending it’s invitation to those who are passionate about storytelling, music, sculpting, art, eco warriors, researchers and more! Such magical opportunities are seldom open all year long but available only for a limited period of time, applications are open till the 10th of October. Just as the name states The Tribe captures the essence of residing in bamboo huts, that are dotted within the map of the jungle that provide breathtaking surreal views. Adventure is out there!
This program is set in a sui generis atmosphere; in an ecologically sensitive forest burrowed in between the Western Ghats of India and the Malabar Coast. The program gives room for the artist to analyse the ecology setting, in their own distinctive way. Which will then spur for open discussions pertaining to the culture of the area and the ecological crisis faced. This program fosters a close bond and engagement with the local communities. It focuses on building and supporting them socially and economically, through the presence and exchange with the resident artists. Comprising of four residencies guided residencies these tree themed residencies are extended to the likes of those who are sculptors, installation artists, ceramists, metal workers, carpenters, festival builders, land artists, eco artists and painter. This is your turn to join hands and stand in union for a noble cause, with a mutual drive and a thirst for inclusiveness with no bounds.
