This article covers the Slingshot Festival’s India debut in Mumbai on February 2026 at G5A Warehouse, tracing the festival’s origins as an artist-led platform for experimental music, digital art, and creative technology. It details Mumbai edition’s mixed Indian and international lineup, spanning live electronic sets, DJ performances, and collaborative acts. The piece also highlights the festival’s workshops, interactive installations commissioned by Rhizome, and its free-with-RSVP format.

Over a decade ago, the Slingshot Festival began as an artist-driven event in Durham, North Carolina, built around experimental music, digital art and emerging technologies. Since its founding in 2013, it has drawn creators and audiences from more than 40 countries, bringing together electronic, avant-pop, techno, ambient and exploratory sound alongside immersive visual and interactive work. Over the years the festival has developed a reputation as a platform where community meets innovation, foregrounding cross-disciplinary exchange between musicians, technologists and visual artists.

Artists on past lineups have included influential figures in electronic music and digital art, such as Jamie XX, Holly Herndon, Carl Craig, Rival Consoles and Nosaj Thing, alongside a wide roster of boundary-pushing performers and sound makers. The event has also served as a space for technology demonstrations, workshops and art installations, encouraging deeper engagement with creative tools and ideas beyond live performances alone.

In 2026, the festival makes its first foray into South Asia with an edition in Mumbai. Scheduled for February 21 and 22at G5A Warehouse, this marks a significant expansion of the Slingshot network and a new opportunity for Indian audiences and artists to engage with the festival’s global community.

The Mumbai lineup brings together Indian and international artists wishing electronic music. Featured Indian artists include Karshni, Sijya, Ruhail Qaisar, Philtersoup, Bigfat x Myles, Echologue, Sourya Sen, Spiralynk, Pardafash, Panelia, Varun Desai, Pale Blue Dotter and Sanaya Ardeshir. International contributors set to perform are Barker (in both live and DJ formats), Deantoni Parks, Moritz Simon Geist, Debit (also live and DJ) and MC Yallah with Debmaster. The lineup spans live sets, DJ performances and collaborative pieces, underlining the festival’s commitment to musical diversity.

Alongside performances, the festival programme in Mumbai will include artist-led workshops focusing on electronic music production, digital art practice and creative technologies. A notable component is an interactive installation commissioned by Rhizome, designed to evolve in response to audience movement and presence, weaving sound and visuals in real time.

Attendance to the main festival is free with RSVP, with separate ticketing for workshop sessions. By bringing Slingshot to Mumbai, organisers aim to highlight the city’s growing experimental music ecosystem and to deepen connections between local scenes and the wider international electronic arts community.
