Netflix and Chill seems to be the answer to every question involving weekend plans lately. As fun as it is, here’s a reality check — nature has some stunning real-life entertainment that no screen will ever be able to replicate. India has an abundance of gorgeous spots, each displaying a phenomenon unique to the location that make a trip worth every penny. One phenomenon that seemed like it was straight out of a fairy tale was about the fireflies of India.
Scientifically known as lampyridae (when you look closely, it kind of reads as lamp-ride...which in a weird way, makes sense), fireflies tend to thrive in warm, humid environments, automatically making India an ideal location. The ‘Rajmachi Fireflies Trek’ aims to take advantage of exactly this, and is providing travel options from both, Mumbai and Pune.
The event is conveniently over a weekend in June, so you have an ample amount of time to register, as well as plan ahead. With your travel, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and stay in tents covered with your trek fees, a weekend away to reconnect with the simpler things in life seems just about perfect. Do be warned though, the trek is described as being hard. Check with the organizers in advance, to ensure your fitness levels are on par — you don’t want to find yourself in a tough spot in the middle of nowhere.
Trek Fees from Pune and Mumbai are INR 600 and INR 570, respectively. For more information on the event, click here. Contact Rohit Panhalkar (8237676895) or Prasad Jagtap (9767868269) to register, or for a more detailed itinerary of the trek. For similar treks, follow their Facebook page, here.
