Watch 'Save Ralph' To Understand The Gross Cruelty Of Animal Testing
Save Ralph

The concept of animal cruelty goes beyond throwing a rock at a stray dog –– from unethical animal farms to illegal breeding and inadequate care to cosmetic testing, animals have been at the receiving end of brutality for far too long.

Filmmaker Spencer Susser’s ‘Save Ralph’ is an eye-opener for the same. With the help of Taika Waititi and features from Ricky Gervais and Zac Efron, the short film hits the nail on the head as to why beauty products will never be worth animal testing.

Protagonist rabbit Ralph goes about his day, talking about how cosmetic testing is his job –– a job that slowly kills him day by day. Through his pain and agony, Ralph says with a pinch, “... without you and countries that allow animal testing, I’d be out of a job. I’d be on the streets –– not the streets –– more like a field. Like a normal rabbit.”

The film does an impeccable job of making clear just how evil animal testing is –– Ralph, and many others like him are at the mercy of humans –– and for what? Simply a lipstick, moisturiser or shampoo –– nothing anywhere near the life of those animals.

Note: The removal of any mention of animal tests from the country’s cosmetics standard was approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in 2013. India was the first country in South Asia to ban the testing of cosmetics and its ingredients on animals.
