In today’s world convenience is one of the top priorities of the service industry. We have provisions like talking robots, food delivery drones and air taxi’s at our beck and call to make sure that our needs are met with aptly, without much sweat or consumption of time. One such initiative is making sure that one can make a trip to the Middle East from India without having to experience the pain of being locked up with crying infants and tasteless meals, several feet above ground level.

Abdulla Alshehhi, the managing director and chief consultant of the National Advisor Bureau Limited made an announcement during the recent UAE-India Conclave held in Abu Dhabi, regarding his organisation’s plan to build an undersea rail network to connect parts of the Middle East and India with each other.

The head of the consultancy firm stated that it won’t be long before the residents of Fujairah will find themselves catching a train to the city of Mumbai and this network in the sea that the company plans to build shall also be used for exchanging goods like freshwater and oil to and fro between the two regions.

The company is known to push startups in the region to their full potential by helping with their growth and development. They have made recent observations about the possibility of an underwater network to be beneficial to UAE, India and other countries in the region.

“We plan to connect Indian city of Mumbai with Fujairah through ultra-speed floating trains. The project aims to boost bilateral trade. There will be export of oil to India from Fujairah port and import of excess water from Narmada River, north of Mumbai. In addition, other GCC partners can also improve export and import,” said Alshehhi while addressing a gathering of businessmen and industry experts.

Alshehhi talked about such a concept being time consuming due to the various aspects that need to be kept in mind during its construction. “We will do feasibility study of the project. This is (still a) concept but a cool project to look at,” he said. The rail network is estimated to be less than 2,000 km long.

There are several countries across the world that are trying to give birth to a similar initiative that makes transit options for laymen and businessmen alike faster and more convenient than ever . The Indian cities of Mumbai and Ahmedabad are likely to find themselves be a part of this high-speed rail corridor by the year 2022.
