Loved by many international celebrities, notably Richa Moorjani, who is one of the actresses who played the main characters in Mindy Kaling’s Netflix original ‘Never Have I Ever’, Delikate Rayne is a slow and conscious brand founded by a Diasporic Indian sibling-duo. The cruelty-free women’s contemporary fashion label offers a new wear of luxury through their pieces. Founded by Megg and Komie Vora who grew up practising a cruelty-free lifestyle, Delikate Rayne was their attempt to create an ethical fashion brand that practises environmentally progressive values.

Their journey as first-generation Americans, raised as vegetarians who have now become proud vegans, infuses their brand with a unique blend of cultural richness and progressive values. As Diasporic Indians, the sisters lean heavily into their roots with their branding and design choices. In fact, the brand name Delikte Rayne is a derivation of the sister’s Hindi names, referring to their East Indian roots and cultural influence, right from the brand name.

The brand focuses on creating pieces that are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly and aims to remove animals, the planet's impact and human contribution from the fashion industry equation. In a world where fast fashion often comes at a high cost to the planet and its inhabitants, Delikate Rayne tries to cut the bigger cost at which fashion comes at, without compromising on style or values.

As a brand, Delikate Rayne follows their ethos to provide high-quality, stylish offerings without compromising on values by creating their products only on a made-to-order or limited edition basis. The designs from Delikate Rayne are environmentally progressive, using vegan textiles, clean lines and asymmetrical cuts to create a harmonious, but conscious look. This is supported by the immaculate craftsmanship and the founding duos’ eye for edgy elegance to result in sleek wardrobe staples.

In going beyond the brand, Delikate Rayne has collaborated with reputed non-profits such as PETA, PETA India, and Animal Hope and Wellness. They also find ways to be an avenue for the voiceless and empower more women to pursue their passion. Some of their independent projects include creating India’s first vegan lookbook and the “The Wardrobe Diet” concept that promotes conscious consumerism and purchasing decisions. In their own words, it is “a useful process encouraging consideration, guiding individuals in implementing impactful purchasing decisions + how to create new variations from their current closets.”

With their resolute dedication to the cause of Veganism, Delikate Rayne is a brand that goes against the idea of excess when it comes to fashion. The Vora sisters, with their South Asian Diasporic identities at the forefront, are working hard towards promoting more than their brand, but rather a lifestyle. They are proving a point - that through a commitment to conscious choices and a dedication to brands that share one’s core values, one can make an impact, or rather make less impact on the planet for the sake of our sartorial needs.
