We’re trapped in an age of sequels and remakes, where it seems original thought has been waylaid in favour of lazy adaptations. While frustrating, we can empathise with the phenomenon, sometimes there are classic works of literature and film that you feel compelled to revisit in a desperate bid to relive the experience. For Arjun Sawhney and Tavleen Gill Akoi, this didn’t feel like a fitting tribute to the works that have shaped the development of worldwide pop culture and so was born the Ink, Reels and The Graphics Gang, a graphic art homage to some of the world’s most iconic creations.

This first-of-its-kind event transcends geopolitical boundaries in which graphic artists from across the country have created entirely digital art exhibition to honour works such as The Great Gatsby, Bladerunner and Pather Panchali. Traditional brushes and canvas are being replaced by tablets and software in art across the world, so this exhibit is a fitting way to usher in this transitory age.

The exhibit will be open to the public from 16th November – 20th November at the Lodhi, New Delhi. A few of the artists being featured are Vivek Mathur of Indika Design, New York; Divya Thakur of Design Temple, Mumbai and Pushkar Thakur of Grafiaso, New Delhi and many more, each with their own take on your favourite stories. If you’re a cinema or literature buff, stop by to take in these revolutionary takes on the old familiars.

Below are a few pieces that will be on display, visit the exhibit to view the full collection.
