Without a doubt, you can count on Instagram to lead you into the artistic world of colours and illustrations where every artist offers something unique. A visual grammar and style that is only theirs. At Homegrown, we love to explore and engage with new artists on a daily. But we don’t want to keep our finds and artistic gems just to ourselves. So we’ve curated a list of three illustrators that we loved this week and we think you’ll love them too.

No one does detailed illustrations like Chennai-based graphic designer, illustrator and lettering artist Chaaya Prabhat. Having graduated with an M.A in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design she has since worked with the likes of Snapchat, Google and The Obama Foundation. Whether it is picture books, sketchbooks or book covers, her work is always a pleasure to watch. With bright colours and a focus on shades of blue and green, her work is truly unique and she is an illustrator that you should definitely be checking out.

Jamshedpur-based illustrator and visual designer, Pallavi has always had a passion for pictures and children’s books. She says, “Ever since I remember, I grew up surrounded by art supplies, drawing and making crafts to express my imagination. Being a fauji kid, living in various places, connecting with different demographics and cultures added more perspective to this.”

Wanting to be a designer, she got a BFA from the Institute of Fine Arts, Meerut specializing in fine arts. She then dabbled in the world of visual design while working with multiple brands. To explore what really made her happy she quit her job and started making casual illustrations and realising the joy she found in it. Using both digital and traditional media, she loves experimenting with gouache, colored pencil, pens, watercolor, and ink. Her illustrations are a reflection of simple times, simple moments, emotions, colors and details. She tells us how she wishes to draw many many children’s books, picture books and someday publish her own book.

A cursory look through Maharashtra-based brand designer, illustrator and architect Ria Mohta aka Artisan’s arbor’s Instagram is sure to bring you joy as you engage with the pop of vibrant colours that define her artwork. Looking at her illustrations, it comes as a surprise that her career as an illustrator incidentally started when she was pursuing her undergrad in architecture because that is when she developed a strong passion for visual arts and design. Since then she has acquired new skills, experimented with her creative style and also hosted her first prop shop at the age of 20. She has also designed a Snapchat filter for college and has founded a design initiative, Pen and Chai.
