The Artist Mapping India’s Social Evils Through The Periodic Table

Education and art if combined together can be a strong unbeatable force. A lot of artists today are giving great prominence to social, political and economic issues through various platforms to highlight them on a global spectrum. Studies often show that humans respond more diligently to important issues when they are easily relatable. Kaanchi Kapoor a 17 year old Delhi resident intends to use this powerful medium to help broaden people’s minds and encourage participation in remolding the world.

Whilst most of us suffered from nightmares and constant power naps to cope with the monotony of the periodic table, Kaanchi used her imagination to its optimum. It dawned upon her how the initials of each element could be used an acronym to signify a worldly problem. She strategically placed these elements with the map of the world in the background. Along with this, some elements like Xenon (Xe) and Phosphorous (P) stand for movements and social issues that are gaining momentum today like Xenophobia and Paedophilia.
